Don’t Give Up On Your Artwork
Share
Don’t give up on your artwork when things go downhill. Keep creating. It may be different than your original plan but you may like it more.
What does an artist typically do when they are not happy with a piece? Crop it, add an affirmation and frame it❤️
Or at least that is what I did.
I was playing around with a mixed media piece and had no intention on framing it.
I started out with alcohol ink on yupo paper and used and alcohol lift ink to transfer to cardstock. All was good.
Then I sprayed a couple of distressed sprays and it totally became very busy. It was overwhelming.
Then I used some inks for some foliage and a bee and butterfly and all of a sudden I didn’t like it. At this point I thought “Don’t give up”.
My initial plan whatever that meant was dwindling fast.
I left it for a day and came back to it today (highly recommend). I have some mats for ACEO cards that can hold the 2.5x3.5 size and frames to 5x7. So I used the mat opening and found the area I liked most and cut and cropped the piece. I added some ephemera (butterfly) and stamped an affirmation of light the way and put it in the mat and ta-da I just loved it. It would be so precious in a girls bedroom in my opinion.
This is how “Light the Way” emerged and is available on my website:
